Description

Henry Ford
1975
Bronze, one-third scale model

Fredericks' design for the Henry Ford Memorial at the Dearborn Public Library across Michigan Avenue from Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan features a full-length portrait of the company founder standing in front of a curved marble wall that holds four reliefs depicting the history of the man and the company. Exhibited above this display case are the full-size plaster models for the reliefs while the full-size plaster model of Ford (1863-1947) stands nearby. Although Ford did not sit (or stand) for his portrait, Fredericks worked from photographs of the man he met only briefly.
