Plaster relief of obverse side of medallion. Relief depicts a woman on her knees holding a plant in her hands. A small child is at her side with arms outstreatched. There are plants on both sides of the relief. Writing around the relief says "Mary Soper Pope Memorial Award, Cranbrook Institute of Science."

Annual award created for exceptionally meritorious work in the plant sciences.

Reverse of medallion features a tulip design.
Obverse features a woman and child. The woman is holding a plant in her left palm.
The inscription on the medallion reads: "Mary Soper Pope Memorial Award, Cranbrook Institute of Science"
